Amsterdam 750 years
A historic anniversary event with cycling at its heart, held in a fully closed-off city centre.
The event
In 2025, Amsterdam 750 jaar celebrated the city’s 750th anniversary with a grand jubilee event as part of a year-long programme of festivities and commemorations. On this special day, approximately 240,000 visitors gathered to mark the moment Amsterdam was first granted city rights in 1275.
The jubilee year ran from October 2024 to October 2025 and was marked by numerous public activities and highlights, including official celebrations with the Royal Couple. For the main event, the city centre was largely closed to motorised traffic, with a strong emphasis on the bicycle as the primary mode of transport.
Our solution
On behalf of Gemeente Amsterdam we realised more than 50,000 bicycle parking spaces, fully equipped with our Model EventĀ®. The bicycle parking facilities were distributed across the city and tailored to exceptionally high visitor numbers and complex urban logistics.
We supported the organisation with:
- transport and logistics
- full installation and dismantling
- deployment of bicycle stewards
- and information and safety masts with digital monitoring equipment.
The combination of scale, distribution and active supervision meant that the bicycle parking solution contributed to a safe, manageable and smooth running of this historic event, in which the bicycle played a key role in the accessibility of the city.
